Needle Felting Class - Wool Landscape
Students will create felted landscape artworks using colorful wool roving and a special notched “felting needle” to repeatedly stab and tangle the tiny wool fibers together into a picturesque scene. All participants will make the same project with the step-by-step guidance of the art instructor, creating their own version/artwork to take home after class.Participants must currently be 5 years and 4 months to 12 years and 9 months old.
Metal Embossing Class - Metal Ornament or Hanging Metal Art
Students will learn a metal sculpture technique called repousse, which is a form of “relief” sculpture where the artist hammers (or pushes) on the back of the metal surface to make shapes/designs POP OUT on the front! All participants will make the same embossed ornament (or hanging metal art) project with the step-by-step guidance of the art instructor, each creating their own artwork to take home after class.Participants must currently be 5 years and 4 months to 12 years and 9 months old.
Weaving Class - Mini Tapestry
Students will create a colorful mini tapestry with yarn, ribbons, and colorful fibers on a flat loom, learning the basics of weaving and creating exciting patterns across this hanging art piece! Weavings can even easily be continued at home, if more time is required to complete. Each participant will create their own woven artwork to take home after class.Participants must currently be 5 years and 4 months to 12 years and 9 months old.
Printmaking Class - Block Printing & Botanical Gelli Printing
Students will learn two creative & enjoyable processes of printmaking: block printing, and “gelli'' printing. They will carve foam “blocks” as a stamp to make several “editions” of art prints; for “gelli” printing, they will use leaves and pieces of nature on a gel plate; a botanical theme inspired by spring! Each participant will create their own carved block and sets of prints to take home after class.Participants must currently be 6 years to 12 years old.
This exploratory and educational series of art classes covers a range of materials, focusing on a different art medium in each class. Each class teaches new techniques and introduces professional supplies and vocabulary. Students will take home their own artwork after each 1.5-hour class. Program is nonrefundable.
