Participants must be 8 years to 14 years old when the program starts.
In this class, students will create kawaii-style projects that will capture the cuteness of Japanese cartooning. Draw sweet and dramatic facial expressions on plants, animals, and even food items using art pencils, illustration markers, paint pens, and acrylic & watercolor paints. Occasionally, projects will be sculptural, using polymer or air-dry clay. Students will create expressive characters, learn about drawing 3D forms and shading, and practice established Japanese illustrative styles. Completion of artworks will be rolling, usually every 2-3 weeks. All artwork will be ready to take home as a portfolio at the end of the session. NEW PROJECTS different from previous classes or camps. We strive to offer unique art projects from session to session, allowing students to continue with a program, such as “Cartooning & Illustration”, without repeating the same project from a different session. Registration is for a full session of classes, not a single class. Registrations are accepted until the 2nd Art Class, with prorated tuition for the remaining classes in the session. Program is nonrefundable. See "Policies" on our website for more details.
