Description

In this class, students will make projects based on familiar cartooning styles and movie animation; they will learn about comic book art, and the Japanese cartooning styles of Anime, including Kawaii & Chibi characters. Some projects are based on book illustration or graphic design. Students will draw and paint with diverse materials such as art pencils, illustration markers, paint pens, and acrylic & watercolor paints. Occasionally, projects will be sculptural. Students will create expressive characters, learn about drawing 3D forms and shading, paint landscapes and backgrounds that match imaginative stories and fantasy worlds, and practice established illustrative art styles including Manga and Pop-Art. Completion of artworks will be rolling, usually every 2-3 weeks. All artwork will be ready to take home as a portfolioat the end of the session.

NEW PROJECTSdifferent from previous classes or camps. We strive to offer unique art projects from session to session, allowing students to continue with a program, such as “Cartooning & Illustration”, without repeating the same project from a different session.
